It's constructive to be aware that memory tries
to wiggle itself into our perceptions and judgements.
That's part of the price for having memory. It's the
tenacious memory that people are escaping when
they get drunk, loaded or on an adrenelin high
while doing extreme activities, like skydiving and so forth.

Krishnamurti recommended to take a short break
during the day and sit in a chair and just observe the
thoughts race through your mind...with your eyes open,
without judging or manipulating the thoughts, and no
expectations. This helps to keep tabs on what our
subconscious or semi-conscious motivations are, which
are the nattering nabobs from memory.

Observing our own words and actions during the day
is a necessity, but things happen in rapid sucession and
thoughts are fleeting, so that there is little time devoted
to specific items of concern. We need to take a time out
once in a while.

Experience=wisdom. We can play the odds only when we know the odds. The risk-taker in us will decide when to go against the grain.

It's not us. It is the younger folks getting dumber :)

It's simple. As we get older, we become more actutely aware of how stupid we were when we were younger.

The left is an exception to this. Their pride does not let them admit that the ideals of their youthful days were nothing more than self-centered wishful thinking.

As I get older, I get more stupid...or I'm smart enough to now realize that I'm stupid. Maybe it's an early form of alzheimers.

I've become an expert on what doesn't work.
I suspect that passes for wisdom among some folks,
but I suspect there's more to it.
