Sean Wants To Be Wrong About Money Again.

The problem with the Euro is not that it uses color, but that it uses color badly.

And the problem, Sean, with our new U.S. currency has nothing to do with introducing spot color, but the fact that it's ugly. It was ugly without the purple "5," and it's ugly with it. Furthermore, the new designs are even uglier than the old ones, though I was never a fan of the "green only" color scheme.

Nor am I into the "every bill is one size" dealio; it makes things harder for (1) the blind, and (2) the rest of us.

What is it with you real conservatives? Change isn't bad in and of itself. Bad change is bad. Good change is good.

And who gets to decide? Well . . . me. I'll handle this. I know how.

You're just mad because the Bureau of Engraving rejected your "Worth Double Face Value For Gin Purchases" suggestion.

Posted by: Darrell at March 13, 2008 04:10 PM

That DID hurt.

Posted by: Attila Girl at March 13, 2008 04:13 PM

The U.S. gets closer and closer to Euro bills featuring images of structures that don’t exist.

At the rate Bernacke is driving the dollar into the sewer, the Amero will be here soon. It's not just in appearance only that it's getting closer. But making the appearance similar is mental vaseline.

Right now that "cheap" dollar is fueling amazing export growth, countering the "talk down the American economy" meme of the dark side for this election year. And no, there is no recession. You need two consecutive quarters of decline before you have a recession by definition. And we haven't had ONE yet. Remember the doom and gloom is designed to get companies to pull back and consumers to stop spending. Resist. It is not fultile.

Y'all can keep playing, Boyz. But be NICE. I don't want a repeat of the "masonry" war . . .

Posted by: Attila Girl at March 13, 2008 07:48 PM

What?

Posted by: Darrell at March 13, 2008 07:55 PM

And don't play dumb! I mean it! Just because I take shots at Ann Coulter doesn't mean you and DC can take shots at each other--I'm not afraid to be a hypocrite.

Posted by: Attila Girl at March 13, 2008 08:24 PM

Check the ballistics again. No shots fired. And no mention of the gold standard.

Posted by: Darrell at March 13, 2008 08:30 PM

Clarification: No shots fired at DC.

Shots were clearly targeted towards the Democrats and their house organ, the MSM.

Posted by: Darrell at March 13, 2008 08:32 PM

Oh, and who's playing?

I didn't mean to let your setup hit the ground.

Posted by: Darrell at March 13, 2008 08:41 PM

!

Alrighty, then. Let's take a vote on the important issues: dirty martini, or a "extra dry" (read: no vermouth) one with very little ice, and premium gin?

This is a tough one; I need help.

Posted by: Attila Girl at March 13, 2008 08:45 PM

Kiss the vermoth bottle then enjoy your unspoiled reward.

Posted by: Darrell at March 13, 2008 08:48 PM

Vermouth bottle, too!

Now I see that Kristen has picked up around $700K in the last couple of days. She has a song at Amie Street that's going for 98 cents a pop and it's been downloaded over a million times! She gets 70% of the split! Keep the economy churning, folks! Is this a great country or what?

And Silda, I would have told the reporters that my wife wanted to join me on stage but I told her that I was the one who screwed up all on my own and I'm going to be the one who stands here and gets pissed on. Fire away boys and girls! Contact LMA for my number. Oh, and I have nothing to offer you by the way. And I will send stuff to AG. Just want to be upfront about that.

Posted by: Darrell at March 13, 2008 09:44 PM

Well you just keep thinking positive, Mr. Peale. I'll be watching the actual stats.

[taking a sip of whiskey]

Oh, Gawd, I loves you guys.

Wait . . . who put whiskey where my gin was supposed to be?

Ooooooh . . . it's the PATRIARCHY!!!!ELEVENSES; is it time for tea, now?

In a fair world, every couch would have a "gin pocket," and I wouldn't have to wander over to the bar, and pick the wrong libation.

Nor deal with women who think that I should either a) give up drinking, or a) drink a lot of water, to mitigate the dehydrating effects of a Saturday Night Martini.

Posted by: Attila Girl at March 15, 2008 01:59 AM

Even if your Saturday Night Martini is consumed on a Friday night. Or did they move the Dateline again?

In a fair world, you'd have staff to see that your glass never leaves you wanting. And a couch that would allow you to stay as long as you like--without pesky breaks. Or would that be the staff too?

To get back on track to the whole purpose of this post the greenback hasn't been the same since they offset the presidential portraits and slapped on sans-serif numbers to look like Canadian bills. A few years later they sploch on yellows, pinks, and blues. The feds are well on their way to making our currency as bad as the Euros.

About Joy W. McCann: I've been interviewed for Le Monde and mentioned on Fox News. I once did a segment for CNN on "Women and Guns," and this blog is periodically featured on the New York Times' blog list. My writing here has been quoted in California Lawyer. I've appeared on The Glenn and Helen Show. Oh—and Tammy Bruce once bought me breakfast.
My writing has appeared in
The Noise, Handguns, Sports Afield, The American Spectator, and (it's a long story) L.A. Parent. This is my main blog, though I'm also an alumnus of Dean's World, and I help out on the weekends at Right Wing News.
My political philosophy is quite simple: I'm a classical liberal. In our Orwellian times, that makes me a conservative, though one of a decidedly libertarian bent.
